Unlike other email tools, lockrMail does not authenticate with your email provider. We purposefully built our application this way to uphold the highest privacy standards. In order to start receiving emails to your lockrMail email address (and thus filtering to your personal inboxes), you need to provide your lockrMail address to brands and websites. As you visit new websites, always use your lockrMail email address when prompted. lockrMail’s Chrome Extension can help you form this new habit by reminding you at checkout and when completing other online forms.
For existing subscriptions, there are a number of ways to redirect brand communications through lockrMail:
i) If you have an account, simply go to that brand’s website, login to your account and update your email address on file.
ii) For existing subscriptions where you do not have an account, you may have the option to select “Manage email preferences” or “Update email preferences” from the brand’s website or at the bottom of a recent email. In most circumstances this allows you to update your preferred email address as well as your subscriptions.
iii) If neither of the above options are available, the best practice is to unsubscribe to a brand’s email list from your personal or work email and resubscribe using your lockrMail email. Though this process can be a bit time consuming at first, you will save so much time in the long run once you have your Filters enabled!
